Ikhaya Center is designed to be a business incubator to encourage small business startups in the nearby townships. The complex consists of educational spaces, workshops, a cooking school, retail shops and a street market.

The main building is cladded with low-tech vegetable planters as a means to supplement the cooking school with refresh produce.
